The live GATE 2027 website now says GOAPS will open on August 27, 2026, with regular registration closing on September 27 and the extended, late-fee window closing on October 5. The earlier dates remain in the GATE 2027 Information Brochure, Version 1, dated July 20, 2026. The live homepage, however, has added a notice saying registration was rescheduled and displays the new dates. For candidates, the practical point is simple: act on the current live GATE 2027 portal rather than the older PDF. The organising institute is IIT Madras, and the exam dates currently shown remain February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027, with results scheduled for March 19, 2027. ## Who is affected?

This affects every GATE 2027 applicant, including Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical, Instrumentation, XE, XL and XH candidates, as well as working professionals and re-attempting candidates. It is especially important for candidates entering the new Robotics and Automation (RA) paper and for TF candidates moving into XE9, because paper selection must be checked against the revised structure before the form is submitted. Indian applicants should also prepare for the new registration workflow. The live portal says registration through a verified DigiLocker account is mandatory for Indian nationals and asks candidates to create or update that account before applying. ## What to do before August 27

1. Create or verify DigiLocker now. Check that your name, date of birth, address, mobile number and profile picture are correct. Do not rely on an old Mechanical, Civil, EE, ECE, XE or XL checklist without comparing it with the 2027 syllabus. 3. Confirm your paper choice. RA is new, TF is no longer a standalone paper, and XE, XH and XL sectional codes have changed. Candidates choosing two papers must use the current combination table in the live portal. 4. Prepare six examination-city choices. The official FAQ says candidates must select six cities, although the committee may change the allotment for operational reasons. ## What if you do nothing?

You will not lose an attempt merely because registration moved from August 14 to August 27. But if you wait until the final days, a DigiLocker mismatch, unclear paper choice or document defect could delay scrutiny and leave less time for correction. The current live page lists September 27 as the regular deadline and October 5 as the late-fee deadline; candidates should not assume that the late window will be extended again.
