Editorial Policy | GATE Help Center
By the GATE Help Center Editorial Team · Last reviewed: 28 July 2026
How GATE Help Center is written, sourced, checked, dated and corrected — and what we will never publish. This applies to every page and post here.
Who writes this site
All content is published by the GATE Help Center Editorial Team, the editorial group at Gyaniversity Publications responsible for this site. We publish under the team name rather than invented individual bylines: a team that publishes its method, dates its pages and logs its mistakes is more accountable.
Sourcing standard
Official portals are the only authority for dates, fees, eligibility, paper codes, syllabus and counselling rules. For GATE these are:
— The GATE portal for the current cycle: GATE 2027 is organised by IIT Madras at `gate2027.iitm.ac.in`; GATE 2026 was IIT Guwahati at `gate2026.iitg.ac.in`. The host rotates yearly, so we name the cycle and host on every page that depends on them.
— The GATE Information Brochure PDF for that cycle, and GOAPS, the application portal.
— COAP, the counselling portal for IISc and the IITs, run by that cycle's coordinating institute.
— CCMT at `ccmt.admissions.nic.in`, the centralised counselling for NITs, IIITs, IIEST and GFTIs.
— Each PSU's own recruitment notification PDF for eligibility, discipline codes and selection.
— AICTE and the Ministry of Education for assistantship and stipend rules.
Coaching sites, aggregators and news portals are not sources of fact for us: their cutoff estimates, "expected qualifying marks", PSU cutoff scores and salary figures are marketing material. Where we cite them we name them inline and label the claim Reported, never Confirmed.
We link out generously — every official document we mention is hyperlinked. We also link out to work that covers a topic better than we do: for GATE CS practice questions we send candidates to GateOverflow rather than duplicate it.
How we verify facts, and what happens when sources disagree
Every factual claim carries one of three labels, shown next to it:
— Confirmed — traced to an official primary document, with the source link and the date we checked it.
— Reported — from a named, credible secondary source, where the primary document is not yet available.
— Unverified — contested, or the sources disagree, or we could not check it.
When sources disagree, we publish the disagreement. We do not resolve a contradiction by quietly picking the more convenient side. We state both claims, name both sources, show what the primary document says, and say plainly where it is silent. Pages that need one carry a short "what we could not confirm" section — telling a candidate "we do not know this yet, and here is why" is more useful than false confidence.
Updates, review cadence and dates
Every page carries a visible last-reviewed date. Anything labelled Confirmed is re-checked against its primary source at least every 90 days, and immediately whenever the official portal changes. Calendar-bound pages are reviewed at registration, admit card, results and through the counselling rounds. Every August, when the organising institute changes, we re-check every official link and host-dependent rule.
We do not refresh a date to make a page look fresh. If a page has not substantively changed, its date does not move.
Corrections
Report an error to hello@gatehelpcenter.com or gyaniversity.publications@gmail.com. Send the page address and what looks wrong; a source link helps but is not required.
We acknowledge within 3 working days. Anything that could make a candidate act wrongly — a date, fee, deadline, eligibility rule or counselling mechanic — is checked and fixed or removed as a priority; everything else at that page's next review. When we correct a substantive fact we say so on the page and record it, dated, in our public corrections log. We never silently edit a claim.
AI assistance
Some drafts on this site are AI-assisted. We use AI tools to help research, structure and draft pages and news posts, because it lets a small team cover a large, fast-changing exam properly.
AI is never the final authority here. Every published page is reviewed by a human editor and checked against primary sources before it goes live. Dates, fees, codes and rules are verified against the official document, not a model's memory — models are routinely out of date on GATE, which changes every year. Anything the editor cannot verify is labelled Unverified or removed. We disclose this because you should know how these pages were made.
Independence and advertising
This site is funded by advertising, and everything on it is free to read. Ads are labelled as ads and kept clearly separate from editorial content. Advertising revenue never decides what we publish, what we recommend, or what we say about anything. No advertiser reviews, approves or influences a page before publication.
Gyaniversity Publications, which operates this site, is a commercial publisher: it publishes study guides and learning products for school and competitive exams, and runs a paid AI study product. Where we recommend one of its products, the block is labelled an advertisement for our own product — not a review, not editorial advice. At most one per page, never at the top, and never on any trust or legal page.
What we will never publish
— Leaked or pre-exam question papers, or anything presented as advance access to an exam.
— Guaranteed-result claims. No score, rank, seat or job is guaranteed by anyone; a site that says otherwise is selling something.
— Paid agent or seat-booking services, or referrals to them.
— Scraped solution dumps or copied answer keys republished without permission.
— Coaching-blog cutoffs, "expected marks", PSU cutoff scores or salary figures presented as fact.
— Any percentage or likelihood figure without a stated denominator, year range and method.
— Survivorship-bias topper stories offered as advice. Most candidates do not qualify; we write for them.
Non-affiliation
GATE Help Center is an independent student help resource operated by Gyaniversity Publications. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the GATE organising IITs/IISc, COAP and CCMT. This is not the official GATE website; for official notifications, dates, admit cards and results, always use the current cycle's official GATE portal.
